Q: How do I make an appointment?

I'm excited to start this journey with you. Call me at (603)504-6188 or email me at g.dumont.lcmhc@gmail.com, and we will schedule something within one to two weeks.

Q: What issues can I address with you?

We will work on anything that interferes with your life and the way you function. Perhaps, you've reached a point where you feel like something's not working. How do you move forward? Together we can address issues, such as grief, anger management, self esteem, relationship issues, sexuality, and general life coaching.

Much of what I do is values based, which is related to acceptance and commitment therapy. It's often questions based: What is truly valuable to you, and are you living a life that is in alignment with that?

Q: What happens in a typical session?

It depends on the individual and the treatment goals that the client has decided on for themselves.

At the first session, a client usually comes in with a presenting problem, anything from getting into a lot of fights with a significant other to struggling with the death of a loved one. We work together to identify a goal that we can work towards in treatment.

The two of us will talk about what's really going on and what is at the root of specific behaviors. The basis of Cognitive Behavior Therapy is the link between one's actions, thoughts, and feelings, and how they are all interrelated.

Q: How often would we meet?

Typically, in the beginning, I see clients weekly. Usually after six to twelve sessions, depending on what the client and I decide is helpful, the frequency of visits is reduced to bi-weekly or even once a month.

Q: How long would I be coming to see you?

It depends on the complexity or severity of the issue at hand. Some issues can be resolved in six weeks; some take quite a bit longer. Clients usually feel ready to end treatment in close to a year.  The goal is for you to use therapy to reach a place where you feel better equipped to handle life and cope with it's challenges.
